Charles University Choir on the Air

Once again, the Charles University Choir could be heard on air in a programme of the Czech Radio public radio broadcaster. Our recording of the “Křečovice” Mass in B flat major by Josef Suk has been broadcasted by the Czech Radio’s classical music station, ČRo-D-dur, four times already (March 28, March 29, April 11 and April 12). This mass has been recorded by the Charles University Choir as part of its latest CD entitled the Czech Masses to mark the 65th anniversary of the choir’s foundation in 2013.
Furthermore, on Thursday, May 22, at 8:45 p.m., the Choral Nocturne programme of the Czech Radio 3 – Vltava station which is dedicated to culture, art and classical music included a recording by the Charles University Choir of a piece by Jan Málek entitled “The Romance of Stemberg.”

Josef Suk: The “Křečovice” Mass in B flat major for soli, mixed choir, string orchestra and organ (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus, Agnus Dei)
Soloists: Marta Fadljevičová (soprano), Jana Tuková (alto), Ondřej Socha (tenor) and Jan Morávek (basso). Performed by the Charles University Choir, Vladimír Jelínek (organ) and the Prague Youth Chamber Ensemble. Directed by Jakub Zicha.

ČRo-3 Vltava: The Choral Nocturne (May 22, 2014) – programme:

• Jan Novák: Exercitia Mythologica for Mixed Choir a Capella. Performed by the Prague Philharmonic Choir directed by Pavel Kühn.

Jan Málek: The Romance of Stemberg on an anonymous 14th century Old Czech text for a mixed choir a capella. Performed by the Charles University Choir; directed by Jakub Zicha.

• Miloslav Kabeláč: Six lullabies on folk poetry lyrics, Op. 29. Soloist: Věra Soukupová. Performed by the Czech Radio Choir in Prague directed by Milan Malý, Milan Munclinger (flute), Alois Rybín (clarinet), Jiří Baxa (violin), Jaroslav Motlík (viola), František Sláma (cello) and Zdeněk Benda (double bass), directed by Martin Turnovský
