Christmas Concert

11. 12. 2015 - 7:30 PM

Simon and Juda Church, Dusni, Prague 1

Christmas concert is usually the highlight of our winter concert season. Commemorating the double anniversary of a Czech composer Jakub Jan Ryba (250 years since he was born and 200 years since his death), VUS UK will perform his famous Czech Christmas Mass “Hej, mistře” in its original form (reconstructed from the original manuscript). This reconstruction removed all additional corrections that affect many contemporary performances.
Some of the most beautiful pieces of Czech Advent and Christmas music will be performed in the first part of the programme – Christmas pastorale of the 18th and 19th century.

Programme:

Jan Evangelista Kypta: Pastorale “Čas radosti, veselosti“
František Xaver Brixi: Aria e Motetto pastorale “Quem vidistis – Pastores loquebantur“
Daniel František Alois Milčínský: Offertorium pastorale “Pastuškové, vy slouhové“
Jan Evangelista Kypta: Pastorale “Narodil se Kristus Pán“
Daniel František Alois Milčínský: Pastorale
Jan Evangelista Kypta: Three Wise Man Pastorale in D major “Vyšla hvězda na východě“
